As I understand the story, Justin is a gun nut. While at college he came up with some ideas to make an improved "Glock-like" firearm. Dad owned a machine shop that had inhouse design and engineering capability. Working with the machine shop, Justin was able to secure 6 patents. The two that I am aware about is the offset barrel lug, which lowered the barrel in relationship with the frame thereby improving the gun's natural pointing ability. And, the cam operated striker which made for a very smooth trigger.
Justin now runs the machining business, which Kahr is a part of.
