0.25"Group with Ruger Mk II
« on: October 08, 2004, 03:31:07 PM »
I've been experimenting with different ammunition for my Mk II.

This was my first outing with the Mk II after I installed the 3-9 X 40 rifle scope. Eye relief wasn't a problem, the bolt does not come back past the scope. What I hadn't considered was focus and parallax. Oh well, it was free to try.  :)

I shot Winchester T-22, Eley Match Pistol, CCI Green Tag and Wolf Match Extra. I must admit that I didn't want the Wolf to shoot well because of the split case that I had in my HK USP-C .40 S&W. (see picture) However, it was the best of the four. All groups were 5-shot from a 25 yard bench.

Very nice. I've always known the Ruger .22s were more accurate than I could shoot them.
Keep watching, I'm bound to do something stupid again.

Before I started tinkering with ammunition and group sizes, I thought about buying an aftermarket barrel.  I doubt that I will after seeing the results of my tests.  It would be interesting to shoot the same ammunition again, but with an aftermarket barrel.

I'm very happy with this pistol.  It shot better than I thought it would.  Until now, I'd only used it for plinking.

It was fun to learn while playing.  :)
