Having not quite taken us out with the glancing blow (Helene), Mother Nature has lined up a new monster storm (Milton) with a direct path to the Tampa Bay area. This could be the storm we have always feared, a major hurricane running up the mouth of Tampa Bay.
My home is on very high ground, so I mostly fear the wind. Please hope for the best for us. The forum's servers are not physically located here of course, so the forum should be fine.

Here in Amelia Island, FL we had some high winds causing trees to come down, but not real damage. The west coast was apparently harder hit, but my old home area in southwest VA/NE TN and Asheville, NC got whacked, especially Asheville area where I am told that volunteers and big trucks full of supplies were being turned back as “unsanctioned” by authorities. There is a terrifying YouTube video of that area.

I will be offloading some of my R9 collection as part of a safe cleanup and simplifying. I’ll take photos tomorrow morning and post links to the album.
Let me know if you’re interested. I’m not trying to get $1k+ for any. And I’m in a generous mood since it’s sunny in Seattle. So I’ll be open to reasonable offers. More you buy less I’ll ask.

Hey guys,
This storm was brutal. We are on a ridge that runs down the middle of Pinellas County and are about 35 feet above sea level. This storm was all about the storm surge, which is irrelevant to us. We had tropical storm force winds in the middle of the peninsula, but that was about all. We never even lost power.
We had many friends who were not so lucky. The beaches and the coast were hit very hard -- a generational storm for sure.
I am currently in northern Ontario for a death in the family, so I'm a little out of touch with recovery efforts but I'll be back soon.

Duane: Good luck and stay safe as you're probably going to take some kind of a hit, hopefully not flood damage to your home, but just some wind and rain.

Congratulations Duane. As you may know, Karl was a certified NRA Instructor for years. He was doing his certification renewal a few years back and I forget what exactly happened, but they made it so difficult he said the heck with it. Anyway, glad you made it through with their new regime. Keep us informed if you should do something interesting with it. You never know what can happen with credentials such as that!
