Title: Early R9s with blue cf grips
Post by: hedrok on October 18, 2010, 04:55:55 PM
I guess I'm finally ready to part with R293 since I found a 380 for my wife last week.  This gun belongs with a collector, blue grips and all.  I've shot about 250 (+ -) flawless rds. of Gold Dot thru this VERY nice gun and carried it for a number of years almost daily. NEVER pocket carried...but some holster polishing exists.  A couple of very faint scratches are also there.  Original box, paperwork (as soon as I find it), 2 mags come with it.  Asking $1475.shipped and insured to your FFL.  Trades possible, but not likely, since I'm trying to thin the herd and am narrowing down to what I REALLY like.  The most likely trade would be a reliable, "beater R9" (if there is such a thing) and cash.
Pictures are available for the asking. PM, please...but... Be patient...I'm computer challenged.

Attention: Corey...Remember the extra mag that was supposed to go with R443 a couple of years ago...I found it.  PM your address and I'll get it in the mail to you.

Hedrok, here is a little bigger picture for your add.

Folks these are getting harder and harder to come buy.  If I did not have several of them already I would have already jumped on this one.

Side note for any potential buyers:  If the Blue's don't "do it" for you I'd buy them from you if you were to buy it and wanted to sell them.  Then you could have much less dough in this early Farmingdale.

Careful, hedrok.  You may talk yourself into keeping that R293.    :D  One georgeous R9!

Yes, it is, KJ...but, I have to admit, it sits in the safe waaay too much since I got my 9mm Springfield EMP.  With the right holster, the EMPs larger size is not a factor and, I can practice with it without wanting to buy a new hand the next day.  I still like the Rohrbaugh...she's been on my hip for years...but the times demand practicality.

I understand, hedrok.  I have to tell folks who have one of these early ones that they may, one day, regret selling or trading such a fine R9.  However, one has to do what they feel they must....but WOW....once again, just georgeous.

Actually, I'm a vegetarian bordering on vegan.  It should considered a crime to slay an animal for mere food.  Milk should not be given to unsuspecting children and then told that "it's good for you."
What's this world comming to????? >:(

The next thing you know people will be carrying guns!!! And even buying and selling them!!!!!

The end of the world in near!!!!  Run for your life....or....
it's time to go to bed.
G'night.

I think 2 more mugs woulda turned the trick...but I was too shy to ask you to stretch the budget that far.      ;D

Actually, I do not know the Forum status of the gentleman.  He had to have seen the ad here because this in the only place it existed.

I would have given 35 mugs just for the grips. ;D
We get a lot of nonmember lurkers on here, most evenings there are two to three times as many guests on as members.
Again congrats to both buyer and seller.

Gene,
I didn't see that he contacted him by PM and hedrock has his e-mail address in his profile. But I don't know if guests can send a PM or view the profile.
I'm sure if they wanted to contact him they could find a way, look how Corey contacted the winner of R5000. :o

Thanks, FCCW. I am pretty excited about it. I have wanted one of these babies since I saw a picture of one the first time. I am glad I could get one from a Forun member. I think it adds "cache" , or something. Anyway, it's good to keep things in the "family", if you will.

Alright 4mallard!  This makes your 3rd Rohrbaugh purchase this year if my math is correct.  Watch out, as you can tell these things can multiply fast....  ;D

If those old ugly (::)) blue grips don't float your boat let me know and I'll buy them from you.   8)

Corey & KJ,

Thanks, guys. Your math is accurate, Corey. And, yes, they do seem to multiply quickly. The little things just seem to be irresistible, don't you think?  You're right, KJ, it is a good feeling. It'll be even better when I actually get it! Now, let's see, where do we go from here... do you suppose Karl would ever part with #1?

Thanks, John. Yes, I do know your thoughts on the matter. They are what helped shove me off the fence.

KJ, I know what you mean. When Mme. says, "Don't you have enough guns? How many guns do you need?", I always say, "just one more, my Dear."

It's nice to know that this particular  Rohrbaugh will stay in the "club."  It has been well cared for and provided comfort and security to me in many places (some I shouldn't have been in) for quite a while.  Never a misfire, jamb or malfunction of any kind.  Always cleaned and lubed with Mil-Tech grease and oil....not much of either.

A few years back I heard a comment that has stuck with me:
"The best gun in the world is the one in your hand when the fight starts."
I made sure that R293 was gonna be in my hand just about every day.

She's going to a good home. 8)    :) :)

Gentlemen:

R293 has arrived! It is a beauty, just as hedrok described. I'm very glad to have it. As I told him, I really appreciate his staying in close communication with me, and his persistance in getting the pistol to me.

The guys at my FFL were pleased for me, but sort of rolled their eyes. They sell all the Rohrbaugs they can get, but I guess, if you're not a Rohrbite, you just don't get it. " Yeah, that's nice...have you seen these Keltecs over here? Very small and light, and real inexpensive."

You buy them books and buy them books, and all they do is eat the covers.
