Are wear or rub marks on the top of the barrel as seen through the ejection port normal?
-
I just checked mine after several years of use and don't see much signs of wear or rub marks; on the other hand I don't see it as a matter of concern. Have you lubed the outside of your barrel in your normal lubrication process?

Harley Dude
Welcome the the forum.
Do you have any pics of the wear marks?
Do you have a stealth of two tone PUP?

Harley,
Welcome to the forum.
Mine has some wear marks that show on the barrel where it is exposed at the ejection port. I always just figured they were from the parts mating together in a very closely fitted gun. I think that the Rohrbaugh brothers even state somewhere that the r9 is intentionally tight to aid in accuracy, as well as to keep foreign matter out.
I bet some of our friends will have a good answer. Interesting question.

Don't worry, it's normal and natural. Light rub marks on top of the barrel hood are a result of gun parts in motion under regular firing conditions. It’s only cosmetic. My R9s shows the same thing and so do all the R9 pistols I've seen owned by friends of mine who actually shoot their firearms. Come to think about it, even my Wilson Combat CQB .45 ACP 1911 pistol shows this kind of wear. As long as we're talking about normal wear (not tear) and light rub marks and not gouging or galling, everything should be just fine. Just make sure the little guy is kept clean and properly lubed and you’ll be okay.

Thanks, guys....I know it was kind of a dumb question. My Springfield 45 ACP has slide marks on the barrel too. Just wanted to make sure it was also normal for my R9s.

Welcome, Harley Dude; I don't think any member on this forum would consider it a dumb question. A few years ago some of us were concerned about wear on the frame rails and it, too, was deemed to be normal.
