I just ordered a new special forces pup, now let the waiting begin. tic toc
-
Good move; let us know when you receive it and your impressions.
-
its going to be four months, almost tempted to order two ;D
-
That is what I did in the beginning; one sits in the safe, NIB, with the trigger guard tag still on it and the other is my EDC. You can have your cake and eat it, too.
-
Are you sure it is a special forces? The factory stopped making those a while ago after only producing a few.
-
Yes, I am they started making it again. I will post the info

Rob,
It was a pleasure talking with you today as discussed attached you will find a price list of our products and pictures of the Tribute and Special Forces models that are not up on the website yet. Prices are subject to change and deposits will be taken for items on backorder to lock in prices at the time of the order. We are currently on a backorder of approximately 9 months on our R9S & R9S BLK (Stealth) and approximately 5 months on the Tribute and Special Forces models.
You can check our website www.rohrbaughfirearms.com for dealers in your area. If there is not a dealer in your area go to any local dealer and have them call us to place your order.
If you have any questions please give us a call...

Rob,
I stand corrected! Enjoy the new Special Forces Pup.
-
Maybe now that they are making SF models again the guy on gun broker who has been asking $5k for a SF model for years will call it quits.
-
Wow, Rj. That is a thing of beauty. I really like the black mag release. Super stealthy.
Some of my pants have shallow pockets, and if someone was behind and to the side of me, the silver mag release on my stealth is what you might notice.
Congrats, and I know it will be worth the wait. I just saw that there is some gold dot 124 grain on gunbot for $21 a box. :)
-
How much is the SF running? I may put an order in as well if the price is right? I'm still kicking myself for not buying a covert when I could.
-
I think the MSRP is $1,7 and change, just not sure what the change is. lol
-
Thanks for posting rjklein it is great to know RB is making the SF again. I'm brand-spanking new to the Rohrbaugh having spotted a Covert at a gun shop the other day. Today I went back and looked closely at it and balked at buying cuz they wanted $1400 for it and while not exactly beat-up, it was clearly used and no way of telling how many rounds put through it.
Man it was smooth as butter--I've never handled anything quite like it before. Almost exactly the same size as my wife's LCP .380.
Wowza. Good luck with your order! 8)

Welcome, Max. If you decide to join the R9 owners club I suggest you consider buying a new one.

Thanks, I wonder though why the "Retail Price List.xlsx" isn't more readily available. Maybe I need to look more closely at their website...
EDIT: I looked again and no prices online. Further, I found this comment "from the President" which is intriguing but maddening without details: "The NEW Custom style R9 is finished with a Black Nitride™ that will increase wear-resistance, fatigue strength, corrosion resistance, lubricity and cosmetic appeal. Our custom model comes in all black or an Olive Green slide with black components."
The used Covert that I looked at had a black barrel which wasn't black anymore where the slide abraded it (though one prolly could apply brake cleaner to the barrel and clean all the black off). Would be nice to see what these new models will look (and might wear) like.
Dunno about yins guys, but if I buy a nice piece like the R9S I will surely want to show it off! Here in TX we love our guns...
:)

Yeah, I would like to see a copy of the retail price list as well...
-
You aware the Covert is not a factory produced gun? It's sent to Wilson by a retailer to have the black finish applied and "covert" engraved on the slide.
Its a nice option and the retail is in the ballpark of what it woud cost to buy an R9 and sent it to Wilson yourself. I think it still carries the regular factory warranty.
Just wante to make sure you knew it wasnt available from the factory.
-
I hope the finish last, but if it is a problem they will take care of it 100%
-
I bought the Covert in the distant past and it is covered by warranty from Rohrbaugh...I've carried it and shot it a lot and the finish remains fine except on the barrel in the area of the ejection port where this is a little wear revealing the silver steel beneath...since this is my EDC, mostly in a pocket holster, and therefor not flashed around, the minimal wear on the barrel is not an issue to me, and, in fact, just shows that this is a functioning weapon that has been fired. $1400 for the Covert is not a bad price if the wear is acceptable, but I would fully agree that a new purchase is the better option. Good luck with your search!
-
Man, I JUST received my stealth, and the main thing that bugs me about it is the shiny hammer and mag release. I wish I would have known I could order this!
