Hi Guys! So been searching high and low for ammo and finally picked up some FMJ's and also ended up with 2 boxes of original "Black Talon" Defensive ammo.
Anyone have any experience with shooting these through your R9?
Also, I FINALLY received my R9 from the FFL. All i can say is WOW. I can't stop fondling it! Now just waiting for my recluse holster to arrive! :)

Original Black Talon may be worth more to keep than to fire; at least, that is my program.

I'm glad you are enjoying it. Black talon is super pricey in my parts. Winchester generally runs pretty good in the r9 although I would be tempted to save the ammo.

If you can find it there are various current similarities to Black Talon in their Winchester Ranger series; Federal; and Remington Golden Saber. Welcome and congratulations on the purchase of your new best friend.

Thanks guys! Believe it or not, It is truly the original "Black Talon" stuff and I'm getting 2 boxes for essentially $40! I had some spare 5.7ammo and this guy is dying for it so worked out well in a trade!
Since any other ammo is so frustrating to find right now, I'll try the 1st box and see how it runs. Who knows!
Just got the notice from Recluse that my holster ( solo) shipped so should have it next week. I'm a bit of a holster snob so will see how it runs and go from there.

You will love the holster,.........

Your question on Black Talon has been well answered in the previous posts. Permit me therefore simply to welcome you to the Forum and congratulate you on your new R9. From your handle, it would apppear that you are also a fan of the P7. I am as well and use 124-grain ammunition in both the P7 and the R9 to achieve commonality.

From what I understand, Winchester Ranger "T" Series is the latest version of the original Black Talon design. I've read that there were some design improvements, and the black Lubalox was dropped.
PDX1 is actually more similar to the original Black Talon design than Ranger T - but PDX1 is a bonded bullet.
I am happy with the Ranger T performance in gelatin, and they cycle reliably in my R9.

The P7M8, IMO is the most ingenious handgun ever created. I don't have to worry about having to unlock a cocked handgun, or deal with inconsistent DA/SA trigger pull, or grunchy "safe action" type triggers - the P7 is fantastic.
It is my nightstand gun and it's loaded with RA9Ts
