Just picked up brand new R9 Stealth and noticed that the barrel was blacked out as opposed to the normal steel look....Is this being done on all new stealth's or did I get something weird? Trigger and mag release are not black....anyone know?
-
Sounds like you may actually have a Covert.
Expect the black to wear off on the barrel hood.
-
I thought the covert had the trigger and mag release blacked as well.....also when the black wears off the hood does it look bad or "normal"? Thx!
-
I never paid That much attention to the Coverts. I just looked, and you are correct. Also I noticed that it did say "Covert" on the slide.
So if yours doe not say Covert and is not 100% black, then yours Is a little different Stealth afterall. My barrel hood is all stainless.
As far as the black coming off, some guys get upset and don't seem to understand wear patterns. To me it is just a fact of shooting the thing.

The wear on the Covert barrel is no big deal unless you want to hang your pistol in a glass case...just shows that the darn thing means business. Maybe Karl is doing some black barrels now for the Stealth?
-
Definitely does not say Covert...looks like I'll be talking with Maria on Monday for more info! Thx for your time Reinz!
-
Agree with you backupr9!
-
Since they are coating those barrels for the "Custom", maybe they fiqured that they looked better on the Stealth as well.
-
Very likely the case Reinz....btw where are the pretty picture threads?

I know there are some in the Gunsmith- modification area. You will just have to look around. Maybe we need a 'Show Off" area.
