Title: New Forum For 10MM Fans
Post by: Reinz on June 21, 2012, 09:45:14 PM
Like the topic says, a new forum for 10mm - all makes.  It reminds me of this forum in that it is polite with no bashing of brands.

KJ- you power hound, have you got a 10mm Glock yet ? or two?  :D

All welcome

Reins

I have been keeping my eye on a 10MM for some time. It looks like this forum should help me out.
Now I need to stop buying PUPs so I can purchase a 10MM.  ;D

Rohrbaugh seems to have mastered the metric system so maybe they should ditch the .45 and build an R10 in 10MM.

They would turn the handgun world upside down if they made a pocket 10mm!

I Believe it is Fly and Scuba that converted an AMT Backup 45 to 10mm and it worked!  He posted about on some other forum I believe.  Maybe he will chime in and discuss it.  It was quite intriqueing.

I have been following this forum for a couple of months now.  These guys are real serious shooters and reloaders.  I have not been shooting the 10mm's for a couple of years for some reason, makes me want to get back to it.

Thanks Reinz.

Your're  Welcome MRC  :)

The 10mm is very near and dear to me.   I do not shoot my Bren Tens anymore.  I decided it is not very smart shooting a rare gun in which less than a thousand were made and parts are no where to had.   However I do have a handful of other tens that I enjoy.

I have wanted a Bren Ten for years but they just don't seem to turn up when I have the cash.  I have the e-mail of a guy who has 30 of them and I have some rent money coming in November so I think I will see what he has to offer.

I did pick up a couple of Springfield Omegas in the last couple of years and I am impressed with them for the price.  Nice sights and really well built.

30 Brens!  Man, I would love to see and coon-finger that collection.

Omegas are sweeeet guns.  Built tough.  The only thing holding me back on those is the ported barrels.

Maybe your Bren buddy will take 2 Omegas for one Bren.  :

I had to look up coon fingering.......... ;http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=coon%20finger

As Reinz and I have discussed, and he educated me, Coon-fingering is a term from deep East Texas. My cousin Larry from Karnack was a champion Coon Hunter in his day. He told me that when his dogs treed the Coon he would take a two bladed axe to the tree and when it fell the Coon would take off and start the process all over again.

I would gladly trade two Omega's for a good Bren but I don't think that will happen.  I also wish he was my Buddy instead of someone I have done business with on-line.  Oh well.

What do you have against porting by the way?  It only bothers when indoors for me until I get used to it.

Also "coon-finger"?  That's new to me also.

"Hey, ya'all, I don't mind the dogs and the axe, but a 10mm just wouldn't be fair."

That was a very deft thread drift correction. Once in awhile thread drifts occur for educational purposes.

As my record probably reveals, I'll drift a thread as fast as James Butler ("Wild Bill") Hickok used to slap leather.  And speaking of whom, I think old Bill would have highly approved of the 10mm cartridge.  ;D

Sheriff Wyatt Earp probably would have liked it also. He couldn't have had a much better record since he never lost a gunfight.  Although, The 10 mm probably would have saved him a few shots and ammo. Another superb gunfighter who would have loved it was Col. Jack Hays, Texas Ranger. He never lost a gunfight either and died a natural death. He was previously discussed on this forum in the past. The only problem is that their single action army Colts probably couldn't have withstood the 10mm ammo pressures over an extended period.

I went through a phase with ported guns about the same time I was shooting IPSC 20 years ago.

The problem was more the compensators on the pistols in IPSC.  Even though I wore double hearing protection, they permantly damaged my ears more than just hearing  loss.  I delevoped a very debilitating conditition called hyperacusis with lead to daily migranes as well.  I lived in Hell for 12 years  and the last 8 have been somewhat normal  due to the cooperation of a sympathetic physician willing to experiment pharmocologically (no pain meds) following my guidelines.

Obviously ports and compensators don't hurt everyone, just very few if exposed long enough and often enough.

The 10mm has been of interest for a few years but being I no longer reload it's not practical.
