Title: Two-tone vs. Stealth

Well, I've lurked on and off for years and asked a few questions and have finely decided to spend the money to get the pistol I have had my eye on for the past few years.

Now, it's just a matter of deciding on which model to get.  I prefer the look and originally fell for the two-tone model but am concerned that this model may not conceal nearly as easily as the all black Stealth.  

For those who have experience with front pocket AND ankle carry, does it really make much of a difference?  Is the silver of the two-tone going to be noticeable  if carried on ankle while I am seated in the car, or in the pocket of my dress slacks while walking or seated?  Do any of you have family/children who were able to 'make' your carry due to the finish?  

I so very much appreciate any guidance you can give and yes, if I could afford it, I would be more than happy to get one of each--alas, just not possible.

I've carried my "two-tone" Farmingdale R9 in the right front pocket for over seven years now and have never been "made," as the expression goes. As a matter of fact, last week a contractor installing new flooring on the back porch of our home asked me, "Do you carry a weapon?" If he had not been a long-time acquaintance, I would have told him it was none of his business. However, since I have known him for years, I pulled the holstered R9 from my pocket and allowed him to examine it.

"Wow!", was his reaction.

sm.  I wouldn't worry about the concealability of the two-tone if that's what you like; never had a problem.  Purchase and enjoy!

  I have never understood all the fuss about a black gun for CONCEALED carry. If the gun is in your pocket in a holster it could be polished chrome with diamond inlays and be no more visible than an all black gun. Also in the event I needed to remove the gun from my pocket I want the perp to know I have a gun and maybe just maybe he will cease his action and run the other way saving both of us a lot of grief.
  Black (Stealth) is great for an airplane flying at 40,000 ft at night but to me makes very little difference in a concealed carry gun. In an IWB or OWB holster if the shirt were pulled up exposing the gun, unless your black I see no advantage to a black gun there either.

I think it relates to the fantasy of having an extended gun battle in very dark conditions...  Its crazy.

I suppose if you flash a gun on your belt (when a cover garment rides up) that black might, in some circumstances, be less obvious than a nickel-plated BBQ gun, but...it all depends on what you are wearing and such.  I think the general public expects a gun to be black.

Carry what you like -- there are many things more important than the color and the perceived "reflectivity."

Besides, with an R-9 in particular, basically all of the finish of the gun will be covered up with your holster.  If you are really worried about it, the color of you grips is probably more important than the color of the gun frame itself.
