Title: New to Forum
Post by: Robert_Henley on January 23, 2011, 11:54:17 AM
I have several Seecamps (.32 and .380) and bought my first (new) R9 yesterday.  Field stipped and lubricated it yesterday.  Any advice on ammo selection for self-defense and reliability and break-in would be appreciated.  What is the correct pronunciation for Rohrbaugh?  Thanks, Robert

Congrats!!

I like Gold Dot 115g.

As for pronunciation it is sounds like "Roar-Baw"  ;D

Welcome to the forum, Robert! :)

Speer Gold Dot (115 or 124 grain) appears to be the ammo of choice, as previously mentioned.

For defense ammo: 115gr Gold Dots seem to work well - very accurate in mine. 115gr Silvertips are also recommended but I haven't tried them. I have shot the Gold Dot and will stick with it because it works.

For practice: 115gr FMJ WWB seems to be a common choice. I have also shot 115gr FMJ Magtech in mine - that's what the dealer uses and it seems to work well for me but I probably will try WWB when the Magtech is gone and stick with that.

I don't know that there's a lot of break-in required with the Rohrbaugh - especially if your experience is like most here where the gun runs reliably from the very first round through it. Shoot what you're comfortable shooting to get to know the gun.

And - welcome to the forum!

JR

Robert.  Welcome to the Forum and congrats on the purchase of the R9.  You have great taste in firearms as I have Seecamps, too!  For ammo in the R9, I use Winchester 115 gr. Silvertips and have never had a flaw of any kind.  Enjoy!

RH, Welcome to the group.
Try a few different types of SD and range ammo and see what you and the pup like best and stick with it.

Welcome fellow forum member.

I own two R9s and bought and sold another. I have only used 115 grain Speer Gold Dots. They have done me no wrong!

Congratulations on the new R9.
