I want to buy a Rohrbaugh chamber in 9mm and like any smart shopper would like to fire one before I make a 1K purchase. I have checked everywhere and no one rents them. So I have decided to turn to my fellow shooters to see if anyone lives in the South Florida area that owns a Rohrbaugh. If so would you allow me to meet up with you and put a magazine through it???
If anyone out there fits this .
Thank you.

ghostrider_23:
First of all, welcome to the Forum.
While many owners will be rather proprietary toward their R9s, we do have a number of Forum members in South Florida. I wish you luck in finding one who is willing to let you put his through its paces. But take my word for it, you won't find a finer pocket pistol on the planet. 8)

Welcome to the Forum ghostrider_23! I strongly support the Rohrbaugh R9. I bought mine, having not seen one or fired one, just from information on this Forum. Have not looked back!!
I use only Winchester 115 gr. Silvertips and have as backup Speer 115 gr. Gold Dots. Others on the Forum here use other ammo with success, I just stick to what works for my R9s. No blips, no malfunctions of any kind.
Good luck!! :) :)

Hello and welcome to the forum! If you can make it to Daytona on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday you are welcome to put a few mags through mine. BE SURE TO BRING AMMO!!!

It is unbelievable that a new forum member (welcome btw) can get hooked up for a test drive of an R9 but it looks like it is happening. I love the comment about "bring ammo" and know very well why this was said.
Like many on this forum, my first R9 was a leap of faith. I just acquired my third R9 last week, am kicking myself for having sold my first R9 (Farmingdale, carbon fiber) and will be going back for multiples soon.
I hope you connect with your benefactor, enjoy the experience and share your response.

So what happened? Did new member hook up with RickP? Did he shoot the R9 and was he happy?
I hate these unresolved stories.

Hey ghost_rider! What's the verdict?
-
hey ghost_rider, Welcome to the forum. Most pup owners here never saw one or for sure ever shot one before they purchased. And they are happy campers.
Are you an old 101st helio pilot?

theirishguard,
No not a 101st helio pilot. I am a retired 91B that started out as a field medic, then promoted to mobile Evac and ended my years in the air medivac. I did see the change from the 1911 to the 92FS and from the M16A1 to the M16A2. I sometimes miss it but it's a different Army now.

I was not able to drive up to Daytona as I am now a college professor and we had final before the summer end. Along with meetings concerning the H1N1 outbreak that is now here in South Florida.
As for the final verdict, I am still looking for anyone a bit closer to me. Daytona is about 4 hours north of me. Not that I don't appreciate the offer. For now I guess I;m stuck with my S&W 340 as summer is here.
Wish I would have research the ballistics on the 38+P vs standard 9mm first before spending all that money on the 340 with Crimson Trace grips.
I will say for a firearms forum, you all seem very intelligent and well manner.
P.S. Still looking for some S. Florida help.....

my brother was a helio pilot in the 101 air mobile and was in the first unit sent to fight the VC. They were called the "original" ghostriders and mostly flew the H model. Tom

Muzzle energy (ME) is similar between .38+P and 9MM +P; about 295fp. Many of us compensate with standard velocity 9MM by using high test cartridges
The advantage with the R9 is obvious in that its flat profile beats J frame revolver 10 times out of 10.
J frames are great guns but I don't like S&W's trend of making light alloy frames that punish the hand. R9 recoil is stout but I find it enjoyable. R9 is not a gun that you will fire 50 rounds each time you go to the range, as you would a 1911.
Factory recommends we carry it much and shoot less often which I have found acceptable, as do many on this forum.
-
Where in S. Florida are you?
I have one that i shot like 30 rounds though it That i might sell its like new!!!
-
Selling a gun after 30 rounds does not sound good. Do you have an issue with the R9? If so, what is it? There are many helpful guys in this forum that may dissuade you from selling unless, of coure, it is a money thing.
-
I bought a second one for my wife. she liked mine than once i got it she didn't want to carry it any more and keep her 380 so this gun had 30 rounds shot though it just to test it and it set in the safe ever since I bought it new round first of the year (2009)....
long story short I have 2 of them so I'm thinking about selling one to use that money for a different gun!!!
-
I understand, but two are always company, though. :) :)
