Title: A Question For The Pros
Post by: Alphonso on April 03, 2009, 06:44:08 PM
When hand cycling the slide BACK should it be more difficult with a loaded mag than with no mag inserted in the pistol?

That's how mine is and I don't think it used to be this way.

It is a late model RS with 75 to 90 rounds through it.  I replaced the recoil spring a while back.  The gun is very clean and properly lubricated.  Everything inside looks fine to my (semi knowledgeable) self.

Thanks in advance for the help...

It should be slightly more difficult to cycle the slide against a loaded mag  because you're dragging the slide over the top round.  Because of the mag spring, that top round is putting upward pressure against the bottom of the slide, increasing drag.

I've never particularly noticed it myself, but maybe I subconsciously expect it and account for it.
