Title: Stealth??
Post by: Bobs_classic on February 12, 2009, 09:23:43 AM
How is the finish on the stealth? Does anyone have any fading of the finish on the slide from holster ware?? Because I'd really like the stealth but I dont want the finish coming off from a holster otherwise I'd get the two tone, thanks Bob

No fading with my stealth. Its in and out of my pocket holster all the time. Have had it for 3 1/2 months.

I don't have any problem with holster wear either, but it wouldn't matter if I did.

Keep in mind that the Stealth uses the same stainless slide as does the standard model except that it's coated.
So even if the finish did wear, I wouldn't care because the slide would still be the same regarding resistance to corrosion.

What I get with the Stealth is a black pistol that has little "shiny stuff" to expose itself as a gun ("He's got a gun!") if my shirt comes up a little high by accident.
The Stealth in it's all black color can easily be taken for a cell phone.

No wear here either. Mine is just over a year old and lives in a HH pocket holster.

Lucky guy ...   I got my stealth right before Christmas.  If I'd known this one was coming I would have held off.

Sell your and then get the new one.  Should be able to recoup most of your money if you bought it at a decent price.
Corey

PS.  If it's cheap i'll take dibs!

I've never had a gun in armortuff before so I'm not sure how it wears or its look. I'm trust the guys at Wilson Combat know what they're doing so I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

It appears that the price difference between the Stealth and the all-black Special Forces version is about $600 so I guess the Armortuff is one heckuva tough coating and difficult to apply.

Wilson charges upwards of $1000 to apply it to a standard 1911. Expensive stuff.

Three months in the pocket and no visible wear on the Stealth.

I have an IMI Timber Wolf chambered for .357 Magnum and coated in Wilson Combat ARMOR-TUFF® Protective Firearms Finish (OD Green and Black). The coating has proven to be worthy of its name -- armor-tough and protective.
