Title: The term "pup".... where did it come from?

A lot of you refer to your R9 as "pup".
I'm just curious where the term originated?

Chris ("R9SCarry"), the creator of the FAQ site on this Forum, coined the term "pup" for the R9 and it just stuck. I think he was using the term to distinguish the R9 from some of the "big dogs" in his arsenal. (Chris is one of those to whom the .44 Magnum is a "modest" caliber.   ;) )

Welcome!

You can find a wealth of info reading through back pages and/or searching.  Hope you find the information as useful as I did.
