The subject of our little R9's came up on another Gun Board recently and one member brought up as an employee of a gunshop that no longer carried the Rohrbaugh pistols due to reliability issues. This is a quote from his post
"We stopped carrying the Rorhbaugh . Out of about 24 we sold over a year and a half , we had to send 4-5 back for reliability issues . 2 were returned for cracked slides . 1 of those needed 2 slides replaced"
Has anyone here experienced these problems ?

it happened to a few pistols due to a batch of sub standard harding on the slide material. Rohrbaugh took care of all of them. It has not resurfaced. Tom

That's good to hear. I posted there I hadn't seen anthing on it here. Thanks for the info.

jetman,
I am a long timer here. The slide crack problem is history and it also seems that all other problems have been addresed. The R9 has been perfected IMO.

What Tom and Mike said. Apart from that, I'll restrain myself and merely note that my R9 No. 132 has been carried nearly every day for the past four years, has been put through its paces on a regular basis, and has yet to malfunction. I trust it completely.

Well I have R952 and have just noticed the slide cracked about an inch long at the rear on the left side! This thing has no more than 3 boxes of ammo through it.

Ken,
I feel your angst, really.
It is a pain to send it in but Rohrbaugh will make good on their product.
Even with all the 'problems' that have been had by some(myself included) IMO the R9 is still the 'holy grail' of pocket sized pistols. I like both of mine and would not trade for anything that is currently on the market today. I am still waiting for the Broberg.

Ken I hate to here that for you! Rohrbaugh will make it right for ya but it stinks that you will have to send it back. Could you post a picture of the crack?

ken, call Maria at Rohrbaugh 1 800 803 2233 and then send it back. They will take care of it for you. Tom

Oh wow....
Looks like I was one of the first cases of this.
I haven't been around in a while as mine was being worked on (as you can see in the pics) by my smith after we got it back from Rohrbaugh. Mine was a problem with wear on the "locking abatment <sp?>)" or something like that if I recall (hey my smith found it, not me)
Rohrbaugh was a pleasure to deal with.
Sure a couple extra mags woulda been nice haha
Seriously though, two thumbs up to Maria and the way Rohrbaugh handles customer service.

Just asking: Specifically which ammo was that three boxes?
And was it standard or +P?
