Title: Discharge Likely?

with a load in the chamber in a r9, is there a risk of discharge if the piece is dropped?

Hello and welcome,

Long story short, no.   About the only way the R9 might discharge upon droping is if it were droped back end straight down and something solid and narrow enough were to strike the hammer.  In my experiences with the R9 I would have to say that droping from normal shoulder to ground distance, it would be extemely unlikely that the R9 would fire under just about any circumstances.

I agree with Mike and also that comment about "expert
shooters" should be disregarded. It's just pull and bang
like most firearms except a bit more grip consistency
and concentration, like Tom said; and no limp wristing.
It is no big deal.

On second thought, the reference was to "advanced shooters"
, whatever that  may be.
