I am thinking of buying a Rohrbaugh pistol.
For those of you that have owned or shot them, whoud you recommend the R9 or the R9s? Are the sights that helpful?
-
Hey Playboy...Welcome to the Forum. Good to see another Seecamper here.
I have a R9s and IMHO the sights are of no real use, they are very low but they are still functional. Just like the Seecamp, this is a natural point and shoot weapon with great second strike capabilities.
Either one should be a welcome addition to any pocket pistol collection. I also think the R9 has one of the smoothest DAO triggers around...I am confident that you will be impressed.
Good luck, and I'll see ya around the Forum.

I can vouch for that!

And a welcome from me as well! You'll find more than a few familiar faces showing up at this campfire.
Here's a link to an early thread discussing the R9/R9s question:

I don't believe the R9 is a standard item anymore only the R9s with sights. Tom

Tom, Do you know if the R380 will have sights?
-
YES Tom

Hey Playboy,
I have had my R9S Stealth for about 6 months and love it. I do like the sights on mine, if you want to do some aimed shooting you can be effective at 25 yds. Keep in mind though it is not a gun that I go out and run several boxes through at a time. You have to change the rebound spring at or around 200 rounds. When ever I go out on a shooting session a make a point to shoot the rounds loaded in it and let it go at that.
The worst thing, I have quite a few guns in the gun safe wanting to come out and go for a trip and it very seldom happens any more since I have had my R9S. I carry mine in a Desantis Nemissis pocket holster, the same one that fits my obsolete Keltec P3AT.
Welcom to our forum.

Thanks for the welcomes. We will see just how long the "happy to see me" stuff lasts if I actually buy one, stick around, then won't shut my yapper. ;D
I will have to say that, as far as being a good support group goes, you guys suck. ;)
You can see I am a gun junky jones-ing for a fix and instead of talking me out of it you guys hand me clean needles. ;D

Playboy,
You are a very, very dry martini; that is not necessarily a
bad thing.

Speaking of very, very dry martinis, I'll have one over here, please -- shaken, not stirred. 8)

I've got the R9 (no sights) and I don't feel handicapped without them at all. As mentioned it's pretty much a point and shooter. But if you have that option and like sights why not get 'em. Owners state that they are very accurate and they don't hinder drawing or handling the weapon at all.
