I hope to receive my R-9s in the next few days. I understand it will have the G10 grips. Not familiar with these grips, any thoughts, likes, dislikes?
Also would like to know if the black CF grips are hard to acquire?

Since I own both types of grips on 2 different R9's. I can say that the G10's are superior. The CF's are a little to slick. The CF black are not that hard to get and I am going to sell mine as soon I place an order to Rohrbaugh for a set of G10's and a bunch of other little items.

I have a new Stealth with G10 grips (film at 11!). The G10 that comes on my knives have nubby protrusions (makes it kind of grippier) and I notice that the Brothers R found it necessary to smooth them out somewhat. I don't know why, because it defeats the purpose of G10 (price considerations aside). This all does not matter, because I use an Uncle Mike's rubber grip on mine. The rubber grip, in my estimation, makes the R9 complete, as I can control it much better.
My only wish now is for Rohrbaugh to make, or allow others to make, OEM rubber grips for the pup. Or even solid grips with rubber inserts.
But that's just me ;)

The CF grips are fine with me. They don't snag in my holster or pocket and impede the draw. The way I grip an autoloader is by squeezing the frontstrap and the backstrap - not side-to-side on the grips.

First, a big hello and welcome to the Rohrbaugh Forum, John! It's a wonderful venue full of great people and information!
My R9 (the first one) has gone through some "phases" if you will. For example, I had the Brothers R replace the blue CF grips with black ones (what WAS I thinking? :o), and then I fell in love with grip tape on the front and backstraps, and it worked really well. I had to work on my grip as I hadn't many problems with the larger 1911's I had. My main beef with my R9 had been the too smooth CF and the snappy recoil I perceived when I first got it. Thus my question of the G10 modification.
Eventually I found the soft rubber Uncle Mike's grips I now use, but I'd still prefer a grippier handle, rather than to add more thickness via the Uncle Mike's grip. I too like to squeeze the front and back rather than rely on the sides. Perhaps stippling would be in order?
The more confident I feel with the gun, the better off I am.
But that's just me... (I wish I'd coined that phrase!)

I've gone thru the skateboard tape phase and finally settled for a Pachmayr Slip-on sleeve with the finger groove ground off. (I've never cared for finger groove grips on my semi- autos or revolvers. The bumps always seem to be where my fingers should go.)
The new production guns with stronger recoil and magazine springs fix most of the FTF, FTE, & stovepiping problems of the early R9.
With a decent punch, a good quality hex wrench for the grip screws, and a Steve Bedair or RJ Hedley take-down tool you're good to go.
