Has anyone done a complete detail strip of their pistol? If so could you post instructions. So far I have removed the firing pin stop. It is a traditional 1911 design and was relatively easy. It looks like the extractor is held in place by the little roll pin, and could be removed by tapping it out. But I was wondering about the hammer assy. I know this is not normal procedure due to the low round count that these pistols see, however I was getting light hits on some primers and had to take the firing pin stop out and clean the channel and then from there on everything worked as designed. There was probably some crud that caused the misfires. Thanks.

Some have gotten light primer stikes and most time it is blamed on the ammo. Interesting if as you say the light primer strikes stopped after your firing pin channel cleaning.
Chris - what is your opinion on this?

Dave - I tend to think a misfire due to FP problem - would mean a major FP problem - nothing small scale.
To get that bad would suggest a severe collection/build-up of crud, which too will not easily get into the firing pin housing way I see it. Guess over time tho it might be significant - but this aspect is conjecture on my part.
Just possibly depth of primer seating could be a factor too with some ammo - I know when reloading, there are small differences in the way primed rounds finish up - according to type of primer I am using - and even the brass can also have its own contribution re primer pocket depth maybe.
So - I'd place FP issues low on the list - for most part.
