Title: Good source of Speer GD 115g or 124g...?
Post by: TW on October 23, 2004, 01:30:07 AM
>>Before I purchased my R9 I was fortunate to pick up several 50 round boxes of Speer Gold Dot in 124gr. from a friend.  Later I went to my favorite gun store to get some GD in .115gr.  This store does not normally carry Speer Gt, so I special ordered a handful of boxes to try.  Well...I was in for a surprise when they arrived...!...  First off they came only 20 to a box, and each box cost something in the neighborhood of $11 each!!!

So...  Does anyone here have a good source of Speer GD in 115 or 124gr...??  Is it still possible to purchase 50 round boxes, and what is a good price for these babies...??

Thanks in advance for your help on this...!...TW<<

ammoman.com still has some of the recalled 115gr Gold Dot ammo at $99 (shipping included) for 500 rounds.  These are loose-packed, and were recalled for some reason or another, and are marked "NOt for Law Enforcement."

I picked up a few boxes of those a while back, and intend to use them for practice and reliability checking of my new R9.  I'll use the factory-fresh 20-round box ammo for carry.

Note that I've fired hundreds and hundreds of these recalled rounds through other pistols and have never had a failure...

I second the Ammoman 115 GD..I bought a 1k case at the beginning-The price is still good at 179.00 per thou..

I have not had a problem with these at all and plan on shooting them from the Rohrbaugh.. :)

Sounds good ...... anyone else have anything to add?  I expect Ammoman is probably the best - at least usually he does favorable deals.  If that comes out tops then I'll add that info to the FAQ site.

I did get 1,000 loose Speer GD 124's in an ammo box from a gun show earlier this year for $140  but - did not notice they were +P!  So - no good for R9 :(. My P95 will have to digest that lot!

Yea-I ordered mine fairly early at 149.00 a Thou.

They say supply is low so price is up..

Their .40 cal is decent price too..

Or just a man in a happy clam suit?

Hi Guys!
I too bought some Speer GD HP at 115gr from ammoman.com
for $179 for a thousand. That's a relief for me, because I paid even more for a 20rd box at $12/box at the range the other day. At that rate, 1000rds would be $600! That's a lot of clams! Thanks to you guys, my mistakes are being kept to a minimum, and I've already saved the cost to subscribe to rohrbaughforum.com;^)

Just to add my $0.02, I also got 1K 115s from ammoman.  Just started using them,  have had no problems with the first 100.  Pretty fast delivery too.
