Well, the spammers have taken spamming to a whole new level.
After previous rounds of attacks, we instituted a process where you have to prove you are a human being to register as a new user.
Now they must actually be paying people to register and post spam (or usually just spam links) in our forums. Unreal. The only way to stop that is to eliminate it as it occurs.
FAIR WARNING TO ALL NEW FORUM PARTICIPANTS: We look foward to welcoming you to our community. However, when you first post is off-topic and/or you have a link to commercial material in your post or your signature line, YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DELETED, BANNED, AND IP BLOCKED WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE. Sorry if the net is ever cast too wide, but dirty rotten spammers who steal our bandwidth and our time and not welcome here.
If you are accidentally nuked from the forum, please send me an e-mail and appeal to me for special dispensation.
That is all!

Thank you Duane!
Sorry that you had you waste your time dealing with this.
And thank you for being expeditious.

Way to go, Duane!

Great job, Duane!

Smells better already. ;D Thanks Duane

I think I heard someone rack a 12 gauge.

Hopefully...those idiots will get the message that they're not welcome.
Personally, when I see marketing practices like that, I ask everyone I know to patronize someone else...anyone else...even if there's an additional cost.

I love the smell of spammer deletion in the morning... ;)

There's no other sound quite like that one, and I purely love it -- provided, of course, that I'm the one doing the racking. ;)

A quick flush in the morning always helps to clear the air. ;D

Agreed, Richard. Racking an empty shotgun is a great sound, but it's particularly great when you also hear that big 12 gauge shell ga-loop-ing into the chamber!

Shotgun story, A friend of mine from Long Island married a country boy and moved to the White mountains of NH. We were invited to a pig roast which we gladly accepted. Knowing that the house and the barn would be full my wife and I brought a tent. Well about 4 in the morning I heard something scratching around outside the tent. Then a growl, when I racked the shotgun there wasn't another sound. So I said to my wife I guess the bear left. The next thing we heard was meow meow. Well the next morning we all had alot of laughs. But the bear said that sound sent chills down his spine. Duane You run a tight ship keep up the good work. Dan

I am in charge of Network operations for a large company and as such am always fighting spam. 90% of all email sent our way is spam. (an example; yesterday we recieved 91,000 pieces of mail, only 8,000 were concidered "safe") I have appliances constantly scrubbing all incoming email. It is unreal.

I hear that e-mail is becoming passé. This is probably what is killing it.

I agree with that assessment. My two spam filters are effective, but sometimes they are too effective. Last week they deleted an e-mail from a governmental agency that I had specifically asked to be sent. Only the telephone and that old standby, the "fax," saved the day. E-mail may be around for a long while yet, but it is becoming inceasingly unreliable and passé.
