Title: Shooting Illustrated: Skinny 9mms
Post by: DDGator on November 02, 2010, 10:35:04 PM
The new (December 2010) issue of Shooting Illustrated (NRA's newsstand magazine) has an article entitled:  Skinny to the Nines.

They test and compare:

Kahr PM9
Kel-Tec PF-9
Rohrbaugh R-9
Taurus PT-709
Walther PPS

The analysis of each is pretty short, and they don't purport to choose a winner, but...

If you look at the "Shooting Results" chart, the following jumps out at you -- the R-9 had better 25 yard accuracy than any other gun in the test!

Now that is a nice little accolate for the pup!

Looking at the list and having owned three of the five I would put them in this order.

#1) Rohrbaugh

#2) Kahr

#3) Walther

Never owned either of the last two.

I have read a lot of not so good things about Taurus, but have no first hand experience with them.
Held a Kel-tec P3AT that was enough for me I don't know how much better the PF-9 could be. (http://i413.photobucket.com/albums/pp216/yankee2500/puke1.gif)
