Title: Hi from the FL Panhandle
Post by: bama on August 21, 2010, 12:17:02 AM
I have been lurking here for a while, and finally decided to come out of the shadows.  ;D

I own the fourth Robar R9 ever made, and love it!

Thanks for this excellent forum.

Yo bama,

A protracted welcome aboard; have you ever fired it?

Oh yes, it is a carry gun, not a safe queen. In fact, I used it as a BUG for a class a few months ago. It performed very well under pressure.

Terrific; it looks like you work for a great organization. Could you tell us a bit about it?

Suarez International  (http://www.suarezinternationalstore.com/) is a training company focused on what actually happens in a fight, and not on what happens in the controlled environment of the range. I have been tasked recently with creating a series of classes on trauma first aid, as well as integrating medical info into various other classes (survival, fitness, knife self-defense, and shooting).

Bama, my congratulations on that early Robar edition. Welcome to the campfire, pull up a log, and join in the conversation.

And, JHS, if I have not previously welcomed you to the Forum, I do so now.

Interesting story on that, really. A friend of mine begged Karl Rohrbaugh personally to make it for him. After getting it, my friend realized his big mitts simply made using that gun a futile effort! He sold it to me, after running only a couple mags through it. I actually called Maria once to order some spare springs, and she confirmed the rarity of the little grey pup. Of course, now they are offering the Robar edition as a stock item, so mine may soon be less rare. So it goes.   ;)

Bama:

The fourth Robar R9 will always be rare -- rather like R9 No. 132.  ;D

Great story, bama.  I agree, the 4th Robar made will always be valuable and of course, rare, for sure.  Keep and enjoy!

Welcome to the forum my new friend in the Pup!!

Don't mind some of the "vultures" around here concerning "early" pup stuff,(BTW,cash on hand if you do decide that you have to part with it,or CF grips,,  ;) ;D)

It must be very interesting to deal with the "aftermath" of shootings, etc.,and trying to deal with that the best way..

Welcome again to the forum, and if you get the time, please post a pic or two of your Pup-we all like to look!!

Brenden

Mine is an R9s, correct? Aren't the new production Robar models all R9 (no sights)?
Title: Re: Hi from the FL Panhandle

New production Robar's still have sights and I'm thinking you can get it without sights; just have to specify.

Thanks. I had seen that page before, but was remembering it incorrectly. In the copy, it says "a version of R9" (instead of R9s), and that was sticking in my head.

I know I have one but not the 4th one made at the R-Brothers playground.

Yes, but a call to the R- factory with the serial number will not get you a response that it is a Robar model.  :'(

I understand the photoshop away of the #s but wondering if it is a R000 or an R0000?

There is a bit of history keeping wanting to be kept around here..

Always curious minds here!! ;)

Thanks again for the nice pics..
