I am having a difficult time procuring 9mm Gold Dots and am looking for some leads.
The companies I usually deal with seem to have lots and lots of +P ammo, but that's not what the R9 is supposed to eat, right? So, where're ya gettin' it, huh?
(BTW, is the GD "law Enforcement" ammo all +P? Do all +P ammo boxes claim that's what they are or can one buy a box of 9mm GD which is +P in stealth mode??)
Geez, I wish this pup was +P compatible.

Skyhook,
These folks should have it in stock.

Ouch! I think I paid $240 or so for 1000 115grain GDHP in
9mm from Ammoman.com a year ago. These other guys charge $12 per 20! Ammoman.com doesn't even list it anymore. I'm lucky I have 750 rds or so left, but now that I have a gun I can shoot a lot (thanks to TW for the heads up!), a Ruger SP101 in 9mm, I can see this is no quantity at all. I need more from Ammoman, dull garnet;^) I'm not afraid to throw a tantrum, either;^)
Really, if you find a deal on ammo, especially if it's a caliber you are committed to, go ahead and buy all you can afford (I'm down to 9mm and .45ACP. It was out of control, so I consolidated. Two is enough for me. Of course that doesn't account for shot shells, although I have limited that to two gauges as well (12 and 20).
I'm sure we all will be supportive of each other and send major alerts when we find what we want at a price we can afford.
How about a limited production run just for us Rohrbaugh owners, and
anyone else who loves it too. Hmm. I wonder how much is the minimum we have to buy and what are the terms;^)
Prolly have to order 100 million rounds or so. Hmmm. Let's see...100 million divided by 20 times 4, carry the 12...um...anyone want to buy a 9mm revolver;^) LOL!

They are not doing away with Speer Gold Dot 115 grain ammo are they?

It seems were I was today all of the gold dot boxes said "20 High Performance Cartridges" and "the Choice for Law Enforcement". Even the box of 32 caliber 60 gr gold dots I got for my Seecamp said that along with the 9mm 115 gr GDHP. It seems that all of the Gold Dot +Ps says so on the Cartridge. You can't beat Tom's price of $15 for 50 -- the 124 GDHP come in regular and +P - but once again says +P if it is so I would say.

Another Gold Dot source - but not as good a price as Tom - I think Tom told me he buys in bulk so he can give you a good deal -

Being the thread starter on this is a bit of a problem right now as I can't seem to get the re-loaded mags to strip off GDs without jamming. I think I'll order no more GDs until I iron that out... so it's some kind of RN 115s for a while, I guess. :(
-
Sky - is that when shooting - not stripping round off properly during cycling - or is it loading first round to chamber it?
With the latter I find a thoro ''slingshot'' is necessary to accelerate round off mag so it engages feed ramp smartly.
I have noticed if emptying a full mag by hand that as I ease round fwd, so nose tends to drop - mostly due to my finger pressure contact area. I can't see GD's normally being a prob as so many of us find them first class but - anyways do a slow chambering under control and watch how much or little the round tips up ready for feed ramp - sounds as if you aren't getting enough rise of the bullet early enough maybe.
Speculation for now as to why if that is the case and it shouldn't be necessary as a solution to have to go to FMJ's.
Dang - it is so frustrating when I can't get my hands on ''problem'' guns and watch what is goin' on!
-
Firing was no problem. It is the reloading with five or six in the mag. I tried both methods, slingshot and lefthand-on-slide, and both result in the nose of the rnd jamming solidly against the feed ramp and stopping.
I did the slow motion thing and did see the dipping of the bullet as it was being stripped from the mag as the bolt came forward.
Today, I am doing some polishing of the ramp.. that has worked for other guns with the same problem, notably a few 1911s I used to compete with a few years back.
Since a lot of feeding problems with SAs tend to be mag related, I have wondered about that as well.
Thanks for the reply, I'll let you know of any developments.
