Title: 1911
Post by: Robar233 on June 14, 2011, 09:04:12 PM
This forum sold me onto the R9 and I bought one. If you own an R9 I am willing to bet you want the best. If you are a 1911 fan you should check out the web site below. I have shot many of the top of the line 1911's but have found none that hold a candle to the 1911's from this company.
I have shot all the models and just ordered a "Black". It is being built and will be on the "lay-away" plan for a while.

The PDW is about $2500. The Dog is about $3500. The Black starts at about $4000. The gun is so well thought out and built. One example is the bushing. The bushing are either .5 over stock or .9 over. I have shot some of the pistols that have 30K rounds with the same springs and barrel. They are tighter and better than my Kimber Custom that was made special for an FBI trial.

I'm thinking about ordering a few mags.  But within the past year I have bought 20 Tripp Research Cobra mags.  So I am trying to justify.....

No use to justify; won't work.  I mentioned in another thread, my latest venture.  Can't justify it at all; however, working on it.    :)

Mine is being built and paid for as we speak. I'll have to look into the Nighthawk. Mine is going to be a two off. Provost is getting the other one. It is going to have a brand new ceramic coating finish. The slide will be black and the frame will be gun metal grey. The only thing I am not sure about is the flat trigger. I may not care for that feel. The good news is that will be easy to change.
I will keep you posted. It should be finished in a week or two.

Chief,

Sorry I did not address and sign my post. It was a slip of the finger on the enter key.

Chief,

I took a look at the Nighthawks and they look very nice! It ma come down to a Ford vs Chevy thing. There are a few details of Provosts' pistols that I really like.
 1) Rear sight is made to be used to charge the pistol if need be (one hand disabled)
 2) The single rear tritium sight goes under the front tritium sight in low light. This prevents a misaligned standard three dot sight in low light.
 3) The 15 LPI checkering allows your skin to grip the frame but does not "bite" because the top of the pyramid is flattened off.
 4) I have shot some of his pistols with 15k rounds through them and they are tighter now than my Kimber Custom that was made special for the FBI trails that only has 1k through it!
After you get the information give Christopher a call. Tell him you heard about it on this forum. He should know it is me.

The sites you describe are the Same as the Heine "Straight 8" sites on my Nighthawk T-3 I am also running 10-8 Precision sites on one of my Nighthawks.
