Title: H&K P7
Post by: Dino on September 13, 2010, 10:27:10 AM
Ok, I have one at last, P7 PSP, two tone, grade A condition with original box. Really it looks like new.

Long story...but all the online leads failed and I found this one at a gun show 90 miles away from my house.
Will have my son post some pictures when he is free one night.

Went to find a pair of Nill grips and found out on Nill's website that I have a hybrid variant V3, and they don't make a grip for the V3's.

Any of the P7 experts out there have any idea of where else I may be able to acquire wood grips?

Sorry, I forgot to ask, there was a post not long ago with some nice information on P7's, does anyone remember where it is?  I looked but can't find it.

Dino.  Congrats on the P7.  Excellent.  Here's a link that may help.  If not, type in H & K P7 in the search, change the number of days, and the number of search items you want and you should find the link you're looking for.

Thank you Richard, Brenden and KJ.  I'll try to attach the pictures my son sent to my photobucket if I can.

Still don't know what I have as there is no P7 or PSP on the gun itself but the original box lable has, "P7PSP SILVER SLIDE".
Serial number is 375**.

Can't find anything out about the silver slide, have not seen one at any of the sites.

Until "P7Enigma" returns from his undisclosed secure location, and without seeing the reverse side, I think what you may have there is a P7 manufactured circa 1980 and finished with a nickel-plated slide.

Here is a post by P7M13 on the PCT Forum which has stood the test of time:

PSP - Early 9mm version labled PSP on slide & checkered grips. About 239 of these reportedly made before transitioning to the P7.
P7 - Labled P7 on the stippled grip with protruding heel mag release, 9mm x 19 on slide. This is also commonly referred to as the P7PSP (or mistakingly the PSP) but the slide or grip is not marked so.
P7E - Same as P7 but with flush heel mag release, labled P7E on frame and P7 on the grips. This is also commonly referred to as the P7PSP but is not marked so.
P7PSP - Last production run of the heel mag release guns in 1997, labled P7PSP on the slide and P7 on the grips. These came with a lifetime warranty unlike any of the previous heel mag release guns. Looks the same as the P7E.
P7M8 - Labled P7M8 on slide & grips with grip frame mag release behind trigger, 9mm. Also had a commemorative version of 500 guns in 2004.
P7M13 - Same as P7M8 but labled P7M13 and 13 round capacity.
P7K3 - Labled P7K3 on slide & grips, interchangeable in .22LR, .32ACP, & .380ACP calibers.
P7M10 - Labled P7M10 on the slide & grips, holds 10 rounds of .40S&W and has a taller slide.

Thanks Richard, just was accepted to the PCT forum.

It looks like I have a P7E, P7 is on my grip but no where on the frame is a P7E or P7.  I do have a flush heel mag release.

I'll try to post the other side for you without blowing up the page.

Dino:

It's difficult for me to see, but is one of those markings on the right side of the slide an oval enclosing the stamp, "Nds"? If so, your pistol was once issued to the Lower Saxony State Police in Germany. There's an entire portion of PCT devoted to them, of which our own "P7Enigma" is a moderator. He should surface again before too long and will be able to tell you more about your new "squeezer."

Way to go Dino!!!

Nice HK!!

CDNN had some of the "current" P7s slides refinished in the silver tone..

Could be one of these?

Would love to have an original "PSP",very few of those around..

Brenden, I don't think so as I have the original box and it reads, "P7 PSP silver slide" ?

I really don't know what I have and just don't have the time to do the proper research.

The dealer was trying to sell it for $995.00 and I was able to buy it for $799.00.  He claimed it was rare and worth more then most, but I just wanted it as it has been a long road for me trying to find one.

Everyone said they had one or more and when I tried to buy they had none, go figure.

Dino,
I certainly hope so my friend, some of the guns that I have seen have been Re-Marked on some of the cases/boxes,but yours I am hoping is an OEM PSP model!! 8)
It certainly looks very nice for a Lower Saxony model!! 8)

More pics would be great,we do like to drool!!

What ever it is....I would be just happy if I could find some wooden grips for it.  Nills don't make any for the flush mag release with a round but.

I hope it is rare as I would trade someone who appreciates it for a tricked out one with wooden grips.

If the mag release and heel configuration of your pistol resemble those on mine, those are Nill grips mine is wearing in this photo:

Thanks Richard, but no mine is differant.  Where you have a flat cut into your heel down to the release, mine is rounded all the way down.  Mine on Nill's website is called a version 3.

That is a great looking P7 Richard!

Dino,

My P7 is rounded to the heel release like yours but I think it is a plain P7, not a PSP, since that is what it says on the grip. There is no "NDS" on the slide but has a "BYP" in the same place and was imported into Sterling Va. like many of the P7-M8s.

As Tracker will know, that marking on his P7 indicates that it was previously issued to the Bavarian State Police (Polizei Bayern).

Hey Tracker, I do have "NDS" on my slied but no PSP on the gun anywhere.  Have P7 on the grip.

I do belive I have the original box and on the decal on the box is, "P7PSP 9 T25 SILVER SLIDE", above that is "HKP7SIL", on the very top of the decal is, "881985", and on the bottom is the serial number 3754*.

Do you have wood grips on yours?

No, they are not wood grips.

I took too long to talk myself into buying a P7, AND when I finally did Top Gun Supply was sold out. They said more were coming, leave your email address, don't call us, we'll call you. Etc, etc. So anyway, I've been checking their website every couple days. Today when I checked the P7 wasn't even listed. I called them to find out what was going on and was told that HK was jerking them around, and the lady I was talking to said that she didn't believe they would ever see any more. Too bad, they had a great price. Being the patient shopper that I am I immediately went into a shopping frenzy and found one at Bachman Pawn in Dallas. It's a grade "A", graded excellent by HK, two mags, box, papers for $700. I found their ad in Gun List (or whatever it's called now). I asked the guy on the phone, and he said it was marked Augusta, Ga Does that sound right?. Anyway it'll be here in three days, so everyone get ready! The P7 rookie needs help. :D     Gene

Gene,
I don't know anything about your Augusta but Bachman Pawn Shop I know well. They have the best retail prices on guns I have found. Shaun Nelms, their owner, isn't always user friendly but his employees are superb. Tom Watson knows them quite well. I have had good experiences with them.

Thanks again, Tracker. Since Tom lives in Dallas, I thought he might give me some info about Bachman Pawn. I was going to give him a call tomorrow morning. Now I won't have to. I really wanted one of those "B" grades from Top Gun, but I snoozed and guess what? It looks as though the gun has plastic grips, so I know that I want wood grips for sure. I accessed Nill's website after I ordered the gun, but he has about a million different grips to choose from so I thought I would wait and check with you and P7 Enigma before I bought anything. Fun times a'comin.     Gene

Bachman Pawn is a misnomer. They are a very large retail gun dealer with a location on Northwest Highway in Dallas. I have bought several guns from them. They are a major force at Texas gun shows.

I got a call this afternoon from a nice lady at Bachman Pawn. She said that my FFL dealer hadn't faxed the paperwork to them so they couldn't ship my gun 'til they got it. I called the dealer and he was very apologetic. He said they got so busy that it "just slipped their minds" But he did assure me that they had meant to do it. I remember my mother (who was from mississippi) when I gave her that excuse, would tell me that aimin' to don't pick no cotton. Aw well, the gun has shipped and will get here tuesday. I guess I can wait that long :'(        Gene

Birdman - congrats on your P7 purchase, you will absolutely love it!

While I have not bought anything from Bachman Pawn in a few years, I have purchased quite a few weapons over the years from them.  Acutually, all of them from Shaun, and he worked well with me, especially with one of my P7's.

It was my first P7 and I was much younger and dumber.  Little did I know it at the time, but I ran some Israllie machine gun ammo through it and totally frooze the striker to the rear.
Shaun pulled out the striker assembly from a new gun and replaced it , no questions asked.
Now that's service, especially since I was in the wrong.

This was early 90's, and I was told that parts were very difficult to get from HK.  So I was quite happy.

Good for you Birdman,

Good Shooting

Knowing how attached he is to his P7 I think he may be more willing to switch butts than butt plates.
